Alright, so first and foremost that title is a little wordy. So this is the first article of two that I will be writing about WWE Summer Slam in Minnesota this year. My wife (Mandy), who you all know, is very into the WWE Universe and community with creating most of her content around wrestling. Naturally, you would think me, as her husband, would also be deeply invested into the WWE and wrestling as well right? I mean technically not so much…
Obviously, when I say I am not a fan of the WWE that does not mean I have anything against it or any wrestling in general. I just mean I am not as tapped into the shows and community as my wife and many other people. I do know most of the names of the wrestlers along with some of the storylines just from it being on when my wife is watching or of course watching my wife’s content on social media and YouTube MandyNicoleSports! (Yes, that in fact was a shameless plug for my wife’s socials. Go follow her, links will be at the bottom of the article.)
I want to start by giving a little background around the WWE Summer Slam event. This two night event is taking place at US Bank Stadium (home of the Minnesota Vikings) on Saturday August 1st and Sunday August 2nd this year. I will say, when the announcement was made that it was going to be in Minneapolis this year my wife instantly said we were going to try to go since it’s so close to us. I was like “Ok, we will see” because I knew prices for these two night event could get very expensive. This event from what I understand is one of the bigger WWE events of the year and definitely the biggest of the summer. In my opinion it seems like it is a second to WWE’s biggest event of the year, WrestleMania. Once tickets got released, my wife was on Ticketmaster instantly researching all the prices and different areas to sit. Due to this event in a NFL stadium I have no clue on good seats or any of that since it’s a small ring in a big stadium. Few weeks started to go by, which turned into a month or two and see said I found tickets and think I’m going to go ahead and get them. This is definitely her birthday present since she has a birthday in July! Long story short, we have tickets to both nights of Summer Slam as well as the hotel booked for the whole weekend.

Ok, now that you guys are all filled in, let’s get into what I expect to see and experience from this two night WWE Event called Summer Slam as a non-WWE fan. First and foremost I expect to see some of the biggest names in the WWE go against each other. (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley, etc.) I feel if this is truly second to WrestleMania then I should be seeing the best of the best! Second, I expect the crowd to be hype as hell. I fully feel it should feel like a major sporting event in that stadium when certain wrestlers enter or things happen no one was expecting! Third, I expect things to be happening around the city, whether booths setup around the stadium or meet and greet opportunities in the city. I wouldn’t say I would be going to these said booths or meet and greets but for my wife I know that would be cool, and I feel for a big event like this it is required. Fourth, speaking of the crowd I feel the wrestling community should embrace one another on great conversation and content if they so choose to post online. I think with a big event like this there will be all sorts of fans from different backgrounds of wrestling from the casual fan, obsessed fan, wrestling content creators (like my wife), and people like me just going with their spouses or families. Lastly, I simply expect it to be fun. I want this to be one of the best events for my wife because I know she has been looking forward to this for the past year since it was announced. I am excited to see her truly immersed in her element with other people doing the same thing and enjoying what Summer Slam has to offer for the whole weekend.
In ending, as you can tell for me personally this event is just something to go to and take my wife. However, my wife is the one that I hope this event exceeds all her expectations and she just simply has fun and enjoys every moment. I mean, isn’t that what it’s all about? Supporting your wife (spouse or significant other) at something they have been wanting to experience for so long and being able to make that dream a reality. Ok, I know enough of the relationship talk and let me end this article. As I said earlier this is, let’s say, part one of a two part article. This article (part one) is where I cover my expectations of what I think WWE Summer Slam should entail. Part two will be my “review” and my experiences of Summer Slam through the my eyes as a non WWE fan. I hope you guys enjoy these and don’t roast me too bad if I am way off in my expectations!
